Campaign Against Domestic Violence

National Latino Alliance for the Elimination of Domestic Violence
Public Awareness Campaign 2005

Proyecto La Luz, or “Project Light,” brings together the largest and oldest Hispanic civil rights organization, LULAC, with the nation’s largest prepaid wireless service, Miami-based TracFone Wireless, to provide cell phones to victims of domestic violence. The National Latino Alliance for the Elimination of Domestic Violence (Alianza) has joined this effort as part of its recently launched national public awareness campaign to create consciousness about the devastating effects that domestic violence has on Latino families and communities. The project works to ensure victims have access to cellular phones enabling them to call for assistance when, faced with an emergency situation.
